The Kindness Crusade
We often forget to look up from our devices these days and look at the world around us, the people around us, and the animals around us. Therefore we often forget to be kind.
What is kindness? Kindness means you are concerned about other people. Kind people think about another person’s feelings and not just their own, they help someone who is in need, and they are kind even when others are not. Kind people never expect anything in return. They just treat other people kindly because they want to help make someone’s life better. Kindness makes the world a nicer place because it makes people happier.
At JML School and Bloomingdales Pre-Primary, we want to simply remind everyone to be kind and stay kind. In the academic year 2023-24, we have started a Kindness Crusade. Two students are chosen randomly from each class. The chosen ones are given a "Kindness Crusader" badge for a week. They must remember to be kind to everyone. If they see anyone being kind to others, they can write it down on a form. If they see anyone being unkind, they can write that down too.
At the end of the week, they return the form to the teacher who can then discuss the events of the past week with the class.
Five members of the staff are given the badge for a week, too.
Basically, it serves as a reminder to be aware and mindful of our environment.
Simple, small steps like this can go a long way in bringing joy to everyone around us.
